On July 24-25, Riga hosted International World Jazz Festival supported by ORDO Group

The press conference was attended by the organizers of World Jazz Festival Igor Butman and Arkady Ukupnik, General Producer of the festival Natalia Ukupnik, as well as Ivars Rudzitis, Board Member of ORDO Group.

As Igor Butman said: "I am very happy that for the second year our festival is being held in Riga. I love this city which is associated with many important stages in my career - this is where I got the first professional recognition. There have always been strong jazz traditions here, which we strive to worthily continue with World Jazz Festival."

 

In turn, Ivars Rudzitis, Chairman of the board of ORDO Group admitted that the project World Jazz Festival had attracted with a high professional level of performers, variety of the program presented, and unique opportunity to please residents and visitors of the capital with a wonderful cultural event.

 

World Jazz Festival opened with a big concert at the Dome Square, which was attended by Estonian singer Sofia Rubina, pianist and composer Nick Levinovsky from the United States, Latvian musicians Intars Busulis, Mirage Jazz Orchestra, Aminata and Diana Pirags.

 

On the same day there was a big concert on the stage of Arēna Rīga, where the famous saxophonist Igor Butman, together with the talented Latvian performer Intars Busulis presented a special program dedicated to Frank Sinatra.

 

Also, the guests of the festival could meet Trilok Gurtu – a musician, who was born in Mumbai, India and managed to subtly and exquisitely mix the music of his homeland with jazz, fusion and world music. During the years of career, he released albums in collaboration with outstanding modern musicians, including Gary Moore, John McLaughlin, Jan Garbarek, Joe Zawinul and many others.

 

In the 2nd day program, on July 25, World Jazz Festival presented the well-known musician who collected dozens of awards affordable for jazz guitarists, including GRAMMY and EMMY and Rolling Stone’s Jazzman of the Year, who got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and released numerous gold and platinum records - Stanley Clarke.

 

The Festival also kindled the lights in Jurmala - at the beach complex Legend Beach, which hosted Grand Opening ORDO Jazz Party with participation of African jazz singer Somi from the United States. Light sea breeze and wave’s splashes harmoniously intertwined with bright instrumental compositions, in which musicians sensually and energetically sang about life and love.
